Dust allergy and allergic rhinitis
Repeated morning sneezing, nose or eye itching, watery discharge and blockage often fit allergic rhinitis rather than repeated infection.
- Identify realistic trigger reduction instead of trying to remove every speck of dust.
- Correctly used nasal corticosteroid sprays are not the same as decongestant drops and do not usually cause dependence.
- Frequent self-use of decongestant nose drops can worsen blockage.
- Sinus pain, fever, one-sided symptoms or loss of smell may need a broader assessment.
